All about back up power generators

Since the great freeze of 2021, there has been exponential growth in back up power generators in Austin. When the power goes out, our generators kick in automatically, tapping the existing natural gas supply to keep your home up and running.

Not all generator systems are the same

You can opt for a generator system that keeps your home fully powered during an outage or you can select a system that powers only essential systems such as your HVAC and appliances.

  • Full power systems are more expensive as they require a larger generator, but require less labor to be wired
  • Partial power systems are less expensive, but require more complicated wiring by our electrician

Generally, though not always, the cost of the full power system is only incrementally more than the partial and homeowners opt for full power.

Back up power ready

Our homes come ready for a back up power generator, meaning:

  • An ideal generator site has been chosen
  • The wiring and gas line to that site is already set up
  • Our back up power vendor has already determined the best size generator for both full power and partial power scenarios.

This allows the homeowner to choose the generator package that fits their needs. With the preparations already made for the generator, we can often have it installed before move-in.
